Pottery is a medium that has been used for thousands of years. When delving into my work, I find a rustic charm and almost religious experience about it. The repetition of throwing on the wheel creates a tranquil state. I manipulate the clay to express my passion, to make something that can be practical and at the same time art. Each pot I make is a new learning experience, pushing the boundaries of what I have previously done and taking it further. My mind opens not only to the ways of tradition, but also investigate the future of what can be done. In the modern times that we live in, I find that we often lose a big piece of ourselves in technology. Pottery takes a me to another time, free from distraction. I see being a potter as a long-established tradition, passed down from cultures all over the world. To be a part of an honored tradition, gives me a sense of pride. Being a potter comes first in my life and always will.
